Questions

Mabel Gray has a long history of hosting special birthday parties, business dinners, interactive cooking classes, and weddings. With our new private dining area, we have an increased capacity and multiple dining zones to accommodate medium to large-scale events. Peruse these commonly asked questions, and feel free to reach out to us with any additional concerns.

Does Mabel Gray enforce a dress code?

No, we welcome special occasions and weeknight casual meals alike. The Mabel Gray dining room is a repurposed shot-gun diner with an exposed kitchen and a lively bar. The wine cave dining area is attached to the Mabel dining room, but can be made private. Our wine cave is reminiscent of old world wine bars and the chalk cellars of Champagne – moody and candlelit. Both rooms have an upbeat ambiance with an eclectic playlist that matches our staff and our approach to food and beverage.

How do I make a reservation?

Mabel Gray is open for dinner service Tuesday-Saturday, opening at 4 PM. We take
reservations for parties up to 6 guests on a rolling 30 day schedule, via our online reservation system, Tock. Guest chef events, special menus, wine tastings, and holiday reservations are also sold on Tock. We charge a $25 non-refundable deposit per person. This deposit goes back on your bill as a discount when you dine with us. 20% gratuity is applied to every check to offset this discount.

Does Mabel Gray save space for walk-in guests?

Yes! We have a few bar seats and tables held back for walk-in guests, though it’s common for us to be on a wait during peak dining times. We’ll always do our best to accommodate your party in a timely manner, but reservations are strongly encouraged to guarantee a seat.

I have a party larger than 6 guests. Can you accommodate us?

Yes! We have recently opened our wine cave space for large party dining and private events. A party greater than 6 guests is considered a large party reservation. We have a few options for parties of this size:

  • Reserve communal tables in our wine cave. A minimum spend is required, and this experience includes either a Chef’s choice tasting menu experience or a Chef’s choice family style experience, depending on your preferred style of dining. We can accommodate dietary restrictions if provided in advance. Your party will be seated with other public reservations in the room, and this experience is limited to a 3 hours dining time.
  • For a more private option, we offer the wine cave to be booked in 2 hour blocks starting at 4pm or 8:30 pm. A minimum spend is required, and this reservation includes a Chef’s choice tasting menu or Chef’s choice family style experience, as well as a bar allowance. Dietary restrictions and preferences can be accommodated if provided in advance. Multiple ‘seatings’ (2-hr blocks) can be compounded for an increased minimum and more leisurely experience. A 50% deposit is taken at time of booking, and is refundable up to 30 days prior to event date. Guests will use restrooms shared with public reservations in the Mabel Gray dining room.

I have a special event coming up and I'm interested in a large party buy-out. Where do I start?

Mabel Gray has a long history of hosting special birthday parties, business dinners, interactive cooking classes and weddings. With our new private dining area, we have an increased capacity and multiple dining zones to accommodate medium to large-scale events. We offer two options for buy-outs:

  • Buy out our wine cave for the evening. Our wine cave fits up to 30 guests including counter seating. The space is yours for the duration of our dinner service, to be decorated however you wish. A minimum spend is required. This experience includes a Chef’s choice tasting menu or family style meal, as well as a generous beverage allowance. Dietary restrictions and preferences can be honored if provided two weeks in advance. We take a 50% deposit at time of booking that is refundable until 30 days prior to the event date. Guests will use restrooms shared with public reservations in the Mabel Gray dining room. Reservations must be booked more than 30 days in advance.
  • Buy out Mabel Gray for the evening. Combining our dining room with our private room offers room for up to 70 guests including counter and bar seating. The restaurant is yours for the day to be decorated however you wish. Dietary restrictions and preferences can be honored if provided in advance. A minimum spend is required, and a 50% deposit is taken at time of booking. The deposit is refundable up to 30 days prior to the event date. This is our most private and customizable experience! We are available to book on Sundays and Mondays, as well. Reservations must be booked more than 30 days in advance.
  • Please note that we do not allow any outside food, but we are happy to provide custom cake options from our Pastry Chef, Ali Sesnovich.

Does Chef offer in-home catering events?

Yes! Chef James is available for in-home catering events.

He will come to your home to execute a Chef’s choice family-style meal. This is best for parties up to 20 guests. Chef’s kitchen team brings everything they need to cook the meal. The host is responsible for all serve ware, flatware and glassware for their guests. You’re welcome to add on bartending services, retail wine pairings or bottled cocktails.
